Shutterbugs Visit to Patuapara
Shutterbugs Visit to Patuapara
The visit was organised to give students an opportunity to capture photographs of the Durga idols and document the traditional idol-making process. The students observed and photographed the various stages of idol-making and gained an insight into the skills, techniques and craftsmanship involved in this traditional art form.
As part of the visit, the students also interacted with and interviewed the idol makers to learn about their experiences, techniques, challenges and the cultural significance of Durga idol-making in Bengal. The interaction provided students with a valuable opportunity to understand and appreciate the rich cultural heritage associated with this traditional craft.
The visit was conducted with the support and guidance of the two external facilitators, Mr Debodipto Sinha and Ms Runa Sarkar.
As a follow-up activity, the students will curate the photographs captured during the visit and create a flip book documenting the traditional idol-making process and their experience at Patuapara. The students are still in the process of uploading the photographs they captured during the visit. Once all the photographs have been uploaded, they will be reviewed and curated for the flip book.
