ShowCASe began as a CAS project, which is an essential component of the IB
diploma program, consisting of Creativity, Activity, and Service. From the
online version during the pandemic, ShowCASe has grown and expanded. The
core ideas surrounding this year’s fest integrated science and creativity,
exploring humanity’s connection with nature and sustainability. MHSI’s
teacher representative, Dr. Amrita Bandhopadhyay said, “ShowCASe gives
students the opportunity to combine their creativity and intellect through
various events, which I feel is very exciting.”
ShowCASe‘24, was spearheaded by the core team, consisting of grade 12
students, Aarav Jaiswal, Sanvee Sharda, Ishana Kandhari and Priyal Binani.
According to Ms. Asmita Chatterjee, the CAS coordinator of MHSI, mentioned
that “Creativity is not just dance or music, but also anything to do with critical
thinking,”encapsulating ShowCASe’s essence.
With speeches introducing the third edition of MHSI’s fest, ShowCASe was declared open on the 19th of July
2024. The core team elaborated on the focus of fest on STEAM, and the
intrinsic nature of humanity to question and explore, an aspect that ShowCASe
aimed to highlight. The inaugural dance on “Anandadhaara Bohiche Bhubone ” by Rabindranath Tagore
accompanied the speeches, highlighting the importance of CAS.
Ms. Nandini Ghatak, principal of MHSI, spoke about the separation of
science and creativity in society, and how their integration can lead to
innovative solutions, helping combat global issues. She emphasised on
science awakening creativity in people, and creativity leading to
scientific rationalisation and announced ShowCASe 2024 open to resounding applause.
