Bake Sale for ABWU

Bake Sale for All Bengal Women’s Union

On July 25th, we initiated our service experience during a CAS lesson, brainstorming ways to contribute to our community. After much discussion, we decided to organize a bake sale and donate all proceeds and donations to the All Bengal Women’s Union. We held several meetings to plan the baking process, budget our expenses, and strategize on how to effectively divide tasks. The excitement of collaborating for a noble cause was truly invigorating. We produced approximately 100 cake pops, 40 pieces of chocolate fudge, and 60 cookies. While at times the process felt tedious, the team spirit made it enjoyable. For marketing, we designed eye-catching posters and opted for appealing cellophane and bows for packaging.

Creative incentives, such as song requests for multiple purchases, engaged our customers. We were overwhelmed by the support received, with our sale quickly selling out on the first day. Ultimately, we proudly raised Rs. 12,700 for the All Bengal Women’s Union, surpassing our initial goal, thanks to the support of our school community.

After we gave the money to the volunteers at ABWU, they took us on a tour of the facilities. We were warmly greeted by the grade 5 and 6 students. They gave us cupcakes they had made which were genuinely delicious! After speaking a little about the school, we visited the old age home. The women there were extremely kindhearted and one of them even sang a beautiful Bengali song for us.

After that beautiful medley, we were taken to see the organization’s restaurant as well where they served a variety of foods. Reflecting on our recent fundraising event, the whole journey of baking, selling and eventually fundraise wasn’t just a CAS task for us. I think it is evident that we had an incredible amount of fun while simultaneously supporting a worthy cause. We are extremely grateful that this event was such a massive success.
